Jada Pinkett Smith and mother  were left shocked when Willow Smith revealed to them about her history of self-harm.

In the latest episode of their Facebook talk show Red Table Talk, Jada, 46, asked Willow what her “biggest loss” has been in her life.

‘I would have to say I honestly feel like I lost my sanity at one point,” Willow, 17, said. “It was after that whole ‘Whip My Hair’ thing and I had just stopped doing singing lessons and I was kind of just in this grey area of, ‘Who am I? Do I have a purpose? Is there anything I can do besides this?'”

Willow, the daughter of Jada and Will Smith, released the song ‘Whip My Hair’ when she was 9-years-old.

“After all of that kind of settled down, I was listening to a lot of dark music and it was just so crazy and I was just plunged into this black hole and I was, like, cutting myself and doing crazy things.”

Jada and Adrienne looked shocked to hear this admission.

“What? Really? When were you cutting yourself? I didn’t see that part? Cutting yourself where?” Jada asked Willow, horrified.

Willow can then be seen showing her family her left arm and wrist.

“There’s still a little something there. Totally lost my sanity for a moment there,” the singer said.

She revealed that she never told anyone about her self-harm, except for one friend.

“I never talk about it because it was such a short, weird point in my life but you have to pull yourself out of it.”

Red Table Talk has revealed a lot about the Smith family in the short time it’s been released. In the first episode, Jada sat down with Will’s ex-wife, Sheree Fletcher, where she spoke candidly about how she regretted dating Will while he was still married to Sheree. The two women then had a heart-to-heart about raising a blended family.
